It’s Time to Take Your Show on the Road

Ever done a spin class? We tried it once because we’re always down for a good time and, well, it turns out our friend is a liar. If Spin is new to you: It’s riding a bicycle with an angry person yelling at you as you wipe your pal’s butt sweat out of your eyes. The worst part? No it’s not the fact that you put in all of that work and still end up in the exact same spot. No; it’s not the useless little weights. The worst part is that you never once have to worry about dodging road kill and potholes. What good is a bike ride if you don’t have the opportunity to pop a wheelie? Call us old fashioned...

Asheville to Nashville

Things we love: cold rain pelting you in the face, diner breakfast, and first night celebrations going on a wee bit too long. The recon trip for AshToNash had all of that and more. A while back we got in touch with a guy named Joe and learned that he was a former Pro Cyclist. “How convenient!” we thought to ourselves. “We just cooked up a new bike trip and we’re too afraid to try it,” we also thought to ourselves. So… we gave him a bottle of whiskey and sent him into the hills. We thought it would be funny because to racers, adventure cycling is about as foreign as skydiving is to bears. Pro...

Lost, in Your Own Words

We’ll shout from the rooftops about unscripted travel until we’re blue in the foot. However, we thought it might be nice for you to hear from somebody else for a change. Here’s a bunch of Lost veterans talking about the time(s) they got lost with Lost. We literally couldn’t have said it any better. They’re all pretty cool folks. Sign up for a trip and you’ll probably get to hang out with one of them. Trip Calendar If you prefer to read the good old fashioned way, here you go! We used a robot to make a transcript (at least they’re good for something). Transcript: Lost Travel...

Drifty 5

If quarantine is good for one thing, it does a damn fine job of drumming up wanderlust. The 5th Edition welcomed our largest group yet while still keeping it within our Adventure Guidelines for the Covid Age. This is the part where we’d write about all the horrible weather that teams had to struggle through. The cold rain in their tents, the hail on the bike ride, and the swarms of gnats. But there was none of that. The weather was nearly perfect which makes for a boring writeup. They made up for it in Adventure though and there was plenty of goose poop. “It’s like a “Choose Your...

Our Adventure Guidelines for the Covid Age

Photo by Andrew Thompson on the Ozark Drifty recon trip. We’re expecting the covid cloud to hang over us for at least another 12-18 months and that’s pretty lame. We love a virtual meet-up as much as the next person but that’s just too damn long to continue sporting a virtual beach scene background while staring at the globe on our desk. Real life camaraderie shan’t die in the covid age; we just need to play by a new set of a rules. It’ll mean more bike rides and less flights, small groups and less cruises, and (here comes our favorite part) more outside and less...
