3rd Birthday = 3 Day Lostapalooza

Making it to our 3rd birthday is a big feat. We survived the pandemic (thanks to your help) and with luck, we might get ourselves out of these diapers before our 4th birthday. If you’ve been hanging around us for a while you know that we don’t do sales. They feel too… sales-y. No Black Friday… no, Prime day… no “happy new year, new you, here’s 80% off.” But… We make an exception once per year because it’s our birthday and we can do whatever the f we want. For the next three days, get 20% off everything we sell: Lost Trips, Lost Gear, Membership, and even the awesome uncharted gear....

Ash to Nash: Pioneer Edition

> “Pedal, pedal and pedal some more before you find yourself talking to locals and bartenders who are scratching their heads wondering what you’re doing. The beer and the “hell yeah that’s awesome” you’ll get from them makes it all worth it. ”— Joey Riding your bicycle… from Asheville, NC to Nashville, TN. We had our suspicions this would be one of those classic adventures that becomes the stuff of many a tall tale. “I once rode my bicycle from Asheville to Nashville!” “Yeah ok Grandma, time to put down the wine spritzer.” Start off in the charming foothills of Beer City, meander...

2.5% for Tomorrow

We’ve been fans of air since our first breath. We like ours served neat, pine-scented, and hold the carbon (Please). Our love of air and our love of travel has left us wrestling with a bit of a quandary… Travel offers new perspectives on the world, which leads us to care for the planet more deeply. Travel comes at a carbon cost. We could all just stay home and not interact with the world. But, then we’ll die sad and miss out on a lot of great street food. “Well then,” we thought, “what if we just invent a machine that directly captures carbon from the air and then...

The Cascadia Challenge: Pioneer Edition

“Ever been to the San Juans?” he said. “No,” we said. He replied “Well, it’s pretty neat out here” —and the next thing we knew, 10 Pioneers were paddling the Salish Sea. “I paddled my little heart out and fell in love with the San Juan Islands.” – Pioneer Natalie Close followers of our follies might recall that we quietly held the pioneer edition of the Cascadia Challenge last September. We’re only now getting onto posting the field report. Why the delay? Well we’re adventurers by trade, not project managers, so cut us some slack. We hope you enjoy this recounting...

AshtoNash Pioneer unRoute

Pedaling a unicycle up a mountain is hard enough already. So, we did something nice for a change. No, we’re not getting soft. We just thought a suggested route would be useful. And… it’ll make it easier for the Lost photographer to get a photo of you changing your flat tire. Behold Pioneers will receive a copy of this, on non-waterproof paper of course, at the kickoff party. If you want to download the map as a full-fledged PDF you can do that right here. Get the map Last but not least, we did you a solid and published this on...

Lost in the Ouachitas, a Rainy Recap

Lost in the Ouachitas aka “The Ozark Drifty” finished up this past weekend. At 3.5 days it was our shortest trip to-date so we made up for it by cramming in as much lostness as possible. Mother Nature helped as well by dropping 14 hours of straight rain onto our Pioneers and conveniently dropping the temperatures by 20 degrees below average. Bless her heart. “Ozark Drifty: 7 days of misery, in only 2 days!” — Vinegar Sam The Ouachitas (say it with me: “wash-a-taws”) captured by the Sonnemann’s after womblin’ 40 miles through it. Day...
